The FIELL stand for the London Book Fair is very special this year. Our intern Jane Brodie’s background in architecture has provided us with a formidable source of knowledge and a plethora of specialists in architecture and design – this ‘pop-up architecture’ project is well on its way to completion, and we can’t wait to see you all at the Book Fair where their handiwork will be on display. We are especially proud that all the wood from this project will be reused.

The lead designer of the project, Thomas Kendall, is an Architectural designer and artist from Cornwall. He recently graduated from the Bartlett School of Architecture where his work focused on translating stories into tectonic space and human/spatial interactions.

Last year he worked on the design and construction of the Union Street Urban Orchard and the East London Sukkah with Wayward Plants, whilst running his own project, the Identikit Urban Playground, that focused on children's interaction with the urban environment. Recent projects include co-designing a housing project in Ghana and an outdoor classroom for Claire Healy's Edible Forest in Northern Ireland.

This summer you can find him and Heather Ring at the Urban Physic Garden on Union Street. This was commissioned by Peter De Haan Trust partnered with Tate, Kew Gardens and Kings College. All of the wood from the FIELL London Book Fair stand will be donated to this project for reuse.
